Healing Skin Care
(even sun damaged skin!)

What do you think of when you hear "antiaging skin care"? Does it mean looking like we are 25 at the age of 50? No, of course not, it means looking good at our age! Aging gracefully and accepting what is gives us the freedom we so deserve. Not being chained to a predefined idea of what beauty is, but rather the reality of our own individual features.

The secret to beauty is loving what is, and taking the best care of ourselves that we can. It shows as a sign of respect to ourselves when we look healthy, glowing, positive and alive. When we take the steps necessary to look the best we can no matter what our age. We've all seen women that look fabulous; healthy weight, graying hair, laugh lines, bright eyes, tall stance (no matter how "tall") and totally looking their age. Don't you wonder to yourself, what is her antiaging skin care secrets? Healthy skin has a lot to do with achieving that confident look.

Part of the conundrum is that we all know we need the vitamin D sunshine creates under our skins surface. But if you have ever seen a derma-photo shot of the "under surface" skin damage the sun can do to your skin, you know that it is not all good. Protecting our skin is as important as getting that essential vitamin so what is the answer to getting both, skin protection and vitamin D? I would think that supplementing with a high quailty vitiman D3 product is the first step in ensuring that your nutritional needs are met would be a first step, the next is to make sure we are using healing, healthy, natural antiaging skin care that actually works! Why healing skin care? Oh the things we do when we are young that we may be paying for now! Long, unprotected exposure to the sun was probably one of those devil-may-care activities. I know I did, and there are certain areas of my body that are paying for the sunburns so carelessly incurred. If you have ever seen the type of photo that shows what damaged skin looks like just under the surface.

Sun exposure is one of the major contributors to skin damage, but there is also signifigant damage from smoking, excessive drinking, not enough sleep, poor nutrition, and chronic dehydration.

Below are some pictures done with UV Photography. Ultraviolet (UV) light dramatically reveals sun damage, acne scars, actinic keratoses (patches of precancerous cells), and other problems that may not be visible under the wavelengths of visible light. UV photographs look like normal black and white photographs that show you these problems (see the examples below).
